The Squealing Whizzer You will need: an empty yoghurt carton (or small spice box) with lid sticky tape a broken matchstick string or thread a pair of scissors What happens A small carton whirling above you makes strange squeaky noises. Whizzer
It scared the cats and birds in my garden. It should take you a couple of minutes to make the 'whizzer'.
Cut a strip down the carton.
It should be about 2 cm wide and two thirds of the length ofthe carton (fig i). Pierce a small hole in the lid with the scissors.
Cut a piece of string,(or cotton thread) about I metre long.
Remove the lid from the carton, tie one end of the string around the matchstick then pull the string through the hole from the underside. Replace the lid on the carton and tape it down securely (fig 7). Grip the string about 30cm from the carton and whirt it above your head. You have made a strange musical instrument which produces rather funny sounds.Return to "W" menu Return to main menu Return to craft menu
