Christmas spider
THE CHRISTMAS
SPIDER
On a Christmas Eve many years ago, a mother was busily cleaning her
house.
To keep from being swept away, all the spiders in the house ran
upstairs to the attic.
Later that night, when all was quiet, the spiders came
out of hiding and went
downstairs for a peek. They were so excited when they
saw the beautiful Christmas tree,
they ran up the trunk and out among the
branches. The spiders were fllled with joy as
they danced throughout the
tree. When they were through, the tree was covered with
their dusty grey
spider webs. When Santa Clause arrived with presents for the
children, he
saw the tree covered with spider webs, and smiled at how happy the
spiders
were. He knew how upset the mother would be if she saw the tree covered with
the dusty webs, so he turned the webs into shimmering strands of silver and
gold.
The tree sparkled and shone and was even more beautiful than before.
This is why we have tinsel on our Christmas tree today, and why each tree
should
have a Christmas spider in its banches.
To make a spider:
Use a large
bead or two (the beads from those car seats are ideal) and two pipe
cleaners
cut in half, push all the pipe cleaners through the bead and bend the
eight
legs to make it look like a spider!
